Road network is a collection of the intersections and roads. The confirmation of network capacity not only provides a theoretical basis to city's transportation planning and traffic demand management, but also is an important parameter of the scientific and reasonable facilities planning and design, the traffic organization and traffic management. The research of network capacity has great significance in guiding the scientific direction of urban transport development.At the beginning of this thesis, research history and present situation at home and abroad in network capacity theory are reviewed and analyzed. The research methods are classified and compared both by macro and micro levels. Secondly, the influence factors of road network volume and complex network theory are elaborated. The current traffic assignment simulation method based in network capacity model and the advantages and disadvantages of related application are systematically analyzed. The important nodes extraction of road network and confirmation in road network with a given OD structure has been mainly discussed. At last, the paper establishes a road network capacity model based on important node in the network and gives a more detail analysis. In the next chapters, the regional road network of Second Ring of Beijing have been calculated and analyzed. The use of TansCAD simulation software to model the regional road network and traffic distribution helps calculating the capacity of the regional road network. The numerical example testifies the practicality of the proposed model in the road network capacity research and shows the superiority relative to other methods. Finally, it takes a conclusion and prospect on the models and algorithms adopted in this paper. Hope all the study in this paper can provide some helpful suggestions.
