With the continuous development of electric power system, large number of application of precision and sensitive load, higher power quality is required. Power quality analysis and treatment seems more important. Power quality disturbance signal de-noising and detection is the basis and premise to improve the power quality problems and also the problem which is researched in this paper. In the dissertation, the recent increased interest in power quality is explained and the art of the state of study on the power quality are summarized. Several key issues, such as power quality disturbance de-noising, detection, analysis and characteristics extraction, transient disturbances analysis and characteristics extraction are comprehensively and thoroughly studied and analyzed in the thesis. Mathematical morphology theory put forward by the main research method.Based on fuzzy adaptive mathematical morphology filter and S-transform, a novel approach on transient power quality (PQ) disturbance detection is presented in this paper. At first a fuzzy adaptive morphological filter is designed to filter random noise and impulse noise in PQ disturbance signals. It holds the fundamental characteristics of original signals .Then, to the filtered results, amplitude envelope based on S-transform is applied to locate the start and end time that the disturbance occurs. Simulation results show that the proposed approach is fast, accurate and effective.
