Electric power system is an important part of the lifeline system, it is playing an increasingly important role in people's lives and our society. The previous earthquake damage statistical results at home and abroad show power system in the high vulnerability of the earthquake. in the event of damage, it will seriously affect the people's lives in disaster areas, emergency relief and reconstruction work to start. In 5.12 WenChuan earthquake, local people have suffered serious losses of life and property, but it also left us with a valuable seismic data. Through collation and analysis of seismic data, study the vulnerability of power facilities, understand their vulnerability and damage characteristics under different ground motion intensity characteristics. Improving the seismic performance of electric power facilities, has important reference value for the development of rapid assessment about damage of electric power facilities and functional failure.Based on strong motion records in WhenChuan earthquake, using interpolation, and infer the ground motion field in Wenchuan earthquake. Obtained the results of vulnerability analysis based on ground motion parameters by sorting, analysis and statistical regression of power facilities seismic data in WhenChuan earthquake.This paper made the following aspects of work:(1) Introduces the seismic research methods and development trend of power system at home and abroad, summarizes the status of seismic research of power system.(2) Sorting out acceleration records of 420 stations in WenChuan earthquake, and those records are processed. Obtained the value of the horizontal peak ground acceleration(PGA) and spectrum acceleration(Sa). By introduction and comparison of several interpolation methods, using Kriging interpolation method to calculate the value of horizontal PGA and Sa(T=0.1s, 0.2s and 0.3s), thus presumed the ground motion parameters of substations location in the affected areas.(3) By analysis of seismic data in WhenChuan earthquake, after statistical regression, obtained the damage probability of high voltage electrical equipment, the damage incidence of substation equipment, sorting out the damage matrix of main control room of substation based on ground motion parameters.(4) After statistical regression, obtained regression curve of time to restore power based on horizontal PGA and Average Sa(T=0.1-0.3s) at the substation. Depending on the different seismic intensity, studied function failure mode of substation.
