Research On The Assessment Of Drivers' Ability To Detect The Potential Hazard

At present, the death rate of road traffic accident in our country ranks first in the world and accidents caused by the driver's error account for above 90% of the total road traffic accidents. Many traffic accidents originate from the driver being unable to detect the potential hazard which exists in the traffic environment.Therefore, it is necessary to develop assessment research of the driver's ability to detect the potential hazard. It not only can help researchers find the way to improve driver's ability to detect the potential hazard, but also help the driver understand the present situation of his detecting potential hazard ability, and propose the adjustment and suggestion according to the assessment test which can enhance the driver's ability to detect potential hazard and reduce traffic accidents.Through reviewing the former assessment method and achievement of the driver's ability to detect potential hazard, the paper makes theoretical analysis of the driver's detecting potential hazard ability, specifies the concept of potential hazard in transportation scene, proposes the factors which affect the driver's detecting potential hazard ability and meanwhile constructs the evaluating indicator system of the driver's ability to detect potential hazard, which carries on assessment based on two indicators, that is, judgment reaction time and the correct response situation of the driver to the potential hazard in traffic environment. On the basis of the analysis of the scene characteristics in different traffic environments, the paper designs traffic scene including the potential hazard according to selection principles of representativeness, multiplicity and integrity, and simultaneously has completed the scene video recording in the driver's vision angle. It determines the assessment method that the driver watches real transportation scene video recording including potential hazard and records the driver's potential hazard reaction time and correct response situation to evaluate the driver's ability to detect potential hazard comprehensively.The paper constructs assessment software of the driver's detecting potential hazard ability based on Visual C++6.0. It carries on assessment test to ten drivers, and gives corresponding opinion and suggestion according to the test result, and meanwhile selects the three aspects of transportation scene, assessment indicator and response window to verify the reasonability, objectivity and validity of the assessment system.
