With the EPS technology matures, its application scope has ranged from the initial passenger cars to commercial vehicles direction. However, the CAN bus technology are widely used in automotive design and put forward new requirements for EPS, that is, the EPS must have the CAN bus interface, sharing the information about other electronic systems that can help to achieve their own capabilities, so R & D Commercial Vehicle Power Steering System based on CAN bus will become a hot research topic.The dissertation selected a certain medium truck loading 4T as the equipped target models of electric power steering system of commercial vehicle, by analyzing the CAN bus specification, combining the traditional EPS composition, the author designed each node hardware circuit of the EPS system based on CAN bus, and formulated the CAN bus application-layer protocol, then according to the advantages and disadvantages of traditional power steering systems, here we use stratified control methods to determine the booster motor's three control mode and current control strategies. The CAN bus nodes include speed acquisition nodes, engine speed acquisition nodes, dashboard display nodes and power motor control nodes, debugging the hardware circuit of each node, the controller has basically satisfied the design requirements.
