Raw-soil structure housing has the merit of the use of local materials, local conditions, simple construction, and economy, and raw-soil structure is one of the general types of rural buildings in our country, especially in the underdeveloped central and western rural areas. Those areas are weak in taking precaution against earthquake and other disaster. It shows that raw-soil structure housing has the questions of being damaged by earthquake of different degree in previous seismic damage, and the villagers know little about how to prevent earthquake and take measures to deal with emergence, which exacerbates the impact of the seismic damage. Therefore, it is very important to carry out maintenance and reinforcement of the villiage raw-soil structure houses for practical use.Based on the above study purposes, this paper conducted the following aspects:1. Describe the background of subject which includes an investigation of existing structure of raw-soil housing, the damage characteristics and analysis of housing in normal use and under earthquake circumstance. And then review the significance of subject from domestic and foreign aspects. Next, in line with the principle of "simple, convenient, economical and practical", this paper puts forward methods of maintenance and seismic reinforcement of raw-soil structure housing to improve the carrying capacity and seismic performance of adobe walls.2. The local compression reinforcement experiments are carried out by using the different materials and methods to adobe wall of lying masonry. And make an analysis of the change, vertical bearing capacity, failure mode, displacement and strain of wall on different reinforcement conditions. The experimental proves that it has an effective effect on improving the compression performance of adobe wall to set wood and bamboo.3. The low cyclic reinforcement experiments are carried out by using the different materials and methods to adobe wall of lying and level masonry from the aspects of the crack laws, failure characteristics, bearing capacity, ultimate displacement, ductility, hysteretic behavior, stiffness degradation law and energy dissipation ability. The experimental proves that it has an effective effect on improving the seismic performance of adobe wall.4. The formula of shear ultimate capacity is put forward on the basis of the experiment of unreinforced and reinforced adobe wall. And the calculations of shear ultimate capacity make an agreemeet with the experimental results.5. A proposal is offered to reinforce the compression and seismic damage on the basis of the experiment, which can provide a reference to the reinforcement of such structures.
