Communication equipment has a high demand for the operation environment of data center. Air conditioning system becomes the main electricity consuming equipment of telecom corporations while ensuring the normal operation of the data center. Analyzing the heat load of the data center to improve cold quantity configuration and airflow organization structure design becomes an important way to lower energy consumption of a data center.The experimental object in this paper is a data center of a telecom corporation in Guangzhou. We tested and analyzed the environmental parameters of the data center in order to optimize the operation environment and dig the energy saving potential. The main work of this paper is as following:We analyzed the heat source of the data center and calculated the heat release based on heat transfer and fluid mechanics theory. Then we simulated the dynamic cooling load and typical day cooling load with the simulation software, and got the conclusion that the electronic equipment was the main heat source in the data center which produced 320~360W/m~2 cooling load.Combined with the structure parameters of air conditioning, the equipment configuration and the characteristics of send, return air, we design the reasonable testing scheme.We tested the speed and temperature of the air outlet and return air inlet of the air conditioning system, also tested the speed and temperature of the cabinets in three different heights. The boundary conditions can be set by analyzing those distributions of temperature field and velocity field. The simulation governing equation of air flow in the data center was established based on the continuity equation, momentum conservation equation, K equation and ?? equation, then we can simulate the thermal environment by using CFD simulation software. By Analyzing and comparing the simulation and measurement results, an optimized proposal for inlet and outlet allocation can be given which can release the heat of the cabinets in time so as to reduce the air conditioning load and save energy.According to the experimental data and the numerical simulation results, suggestion about energy saving of the data center was given by combining with the comprehensive analysis of the energy saving technology of central air-conditioning in recent years.
