In recent years, with ever growing industrialization and urbanization, people seem to be getting more and more tired of the modern city environment formed by the forests of concrete. Primitive natural city landscape, with its intense spirit of life, has infused new vigor into the urban environment and therefore has become the"pet"of modern urban city scenery design, drawing attention increasingly.Is it really possible for human being to have intimate contact with nature in the noisy cities?City landscape with primitive natural features, is one of the best solutions to improve the urban environment.As a matter of fact, since ancient times, city-dwelling people have never stopped seeking a serene, cozy life in the disturbing urban environment. The elegant presentation of classic landscape garden over the ages serves as the best proof that people then already started to improve their environment according to blueprints in the comparatively closed and confined narrow space, exerting enormous subjective efforts. On the other hand, modern city landscape is the open design of public space in the city."Open"and"public"mean it is created for all city dwellers, which in essence distinguishes with the design of closed space. The focus of this thesis--city landscape with primitive natural features, originates when primitive natural features of city is gradually fading. It is to apply appropriate designing method to reproduce the regional, inartificial, sustainable features of natural landscape following the designing principles and procedures of primitive natural landscape. Thus allowing the primitive natural spirit to fill in and permeate the populous, industrial metropolitan.This thesis attempts to study the primitive natural city landscape progressively with below sections: 1. Definition of the concept of primitive natural city landscape discussed in this thesis 2. As a study on city landscape with primitive natural features, an complete overview of the"features"is required and the overview is summarized in this thesis as 3 aspects-- regional, inartificial, sustainable. 3. A practical design solution assembled by referring to relative cases of foreign and domestic city landscape and by sorting through various design elements of city landscape. The solution offered by this essary can be summarized as preservation and simulation of spacial forms, maintenance and transplantation of primitive plants, preservation and application of rural materials. This section is the key of this thesis. 4. Further clarification of the principles, procedures, components and performing mechanism in designing city landscape with primitive natural features.The principles and procedures are the core in the designing method while the components and performing mechanism are specific to the contents of study.Because the design cases chosen in this thesis and the study scope include both domestic and foreign ones, the relative design books, articles and other detailed second-hand materials are taken as the thesis's main reference and the first-hand materials from the author's field investigation in Shanghai, Hangzhou, Suzhou, Wuxi, etc. are taken as supportive reference. Thus the conclusion process from individual to general is achieved.
