Reciprocating compressors are used widely in production. Many stimulating sources exist in the compressor, and the structure of reciprocating compressor is very complicated. If their faults arise in the practical production, it would not only affect industrial process of production, but also bring a series of potential problems of safety. Thus, in order to ensure the compressor unit working safely, an economic and reliable reciprocating compressor fault diagnosis system is badly needed by factories,the system can be used to forecast, monitor and diagnose the faults of reciprocating compressors.With the development of electronic technology and software technology, the virtual instrument compromise computer hardware resources and break through limitations of the traditional instruments in data processing, display, storage. The Virtual instrument greatly enhances the function of traditional instruments It is the research focus in the field of mechanical fault diagnosis, that using virtual instrument technology develops condition monitoring and fault diagnosis system. At first,this paper introduces the technology compressor fault diagnosis and virtual instrument technology. through consult great mass of data, summarize the common processing methods of compressor signal. Then development signal acquisition and analysis system with NI's LabVIEW. We test the feasibility and stability of the system on the rotor test rig. Thereafter the system used to acquire and analyze signal of reciprocating compressor. The state parameters of compressor can be displayed in real time. The compressor failure is diagnosed during running process by the comparative analysis of practical and standard operating condition PV-Diagram and wavelet signal. We achieved very good results.The studies provides a new thinking and practical solution for the developed of fault diagnosis instrument of reciprocating compressors.
