Large-scale reciprocating compressors are regarded as one of key production facilities in petrochemical industry, its running period directly influenced the economic benefit of enterprises, and if it happened safety accident possibly brought great social influence. Following with the continual development and fast maturity of on-line monitoring technology for centrifugal compressor, people are more and more pay attention to the on-line monitoring system for reciprocating compressor.The author determined the research direction and target of the subject by read a large number of domestic and foreign literatures. In order to design the monitoring plan, this paper systematic researched the common fault mechanism of reciprocating compressor based on summarized fieldwork experience.By compared the advantage and disadvantage between two-tier and three-tier network architecture, this paper designed a remote on-line monitoring system based on middleware technology, it satisfied the share requirements of real-time data, ensured the safety requirements of system database, and it also provided a advantage for new function development and application.Based on designed the overall architecture of on-line monitoring system, this paper designed the software function architecture and data storage structure. Based on the kinematics of reciprocating compressor, this paper deeply researched the application of piston rod drop monitor function, indicator diagram algorithm and shock monitor function which are three key technology in on-line monitoring system for reciprocating compressor, at last, combined with concrete case demonstrated the application of the key technology.On-line monitoring system for reciprocating compressor which this paper researched and developed is now successfully applied in a number of petrochemical industries, and achieved very good results.
