As a strategic weapon, the ballistic missile has many good properties, such as high speed, high load, and carrying many sub-missiles. Hence, it plays an important role in modern warfare. With the development of ballistic missile, the interception of ballistic missiles is becoming more and more difficult, especially the interception of a ballistic missile with multi sub-missiles. In order to effectively intercept the multi sub-missiles, we must adopt a cooperative way and use multi interceptors. Thus, we need to study the collaborative guidance and formation flight control of multi-missiles.To describe the process of multi interceptors intercepting multi ballistic sub-missiles, several coordinate systems and some motion equations are presented. For the midcourse guidance, we research the description parameters of elliptical orbit and present several common transfer orbits to determine the trajectory of ballistic missile. According to the predicted interception point, we calculate the early warning time of the ballistic missile and some corresponding parameters of the transfer orbit. Based on the Lambert guidance principle, the interceptor is guided into the orbit using the velocity gain guidance law. As the relative range between the ballistic missile and interceptor becomes smaller than the detection range of the interceptor's seeker, the interceptor starts its terminal guidance process.In the process of terminal guidance, the interceptor uses the adaptive sliding mode guidance law and it takes the line-of-sight angular rate as the rule of collaborative guidance of intercepting multi targets. Simulation results show that the choice of guidance law and the rule of collaborative guidance is definitely right. Moreover, we also study how to avoid collisions between the interceptors in the process of terminal guidance and the formation flight control of multi missiles. We propose a theoretic method of avoiding collisions. For the formation flight of missiles, we establish a math model for the formation flight and design a corresponding PI controller. Simulation results show that the controller can effectively control the formation of missiles.
