As SRM has series of advantages such as the simple structure, robust, high starting torque and so on. It becomes a strong competitor with AC motor drive system, DC motor drive system and brushless DC motor drive system. The paper put forward the new hybrid excitation switched reluctance motor (HESRM) which combines the traditional SRM with high performance permanent magnetic material based on the traditional SRM.First of all, this paper put forwards the background and significance of the research, analysis the advantage and disadvantage of SRM, what's more, it discusses the research orientation in the future. This paper describes several structures of the new SRM which merge the high-performance permanent magnetic materials with the traditional SRM and compares their respective advantages and disadvantages.This paper puts forward the new structure of permanent magnet flux SRM aiming at improving the output electromagnetic torque and system efficiency. It introduces the mathematical model of this HESRM, which establish the foundation for the motor's simulation.The paper researches the operating principle of the HESRM based on the mathematical model. It makes the theoretical analysis about permanent magnet reluctance torque using the method of equivalent magnetic circuit diagram, what's more, it researches the influence laws caused by excitation current, permanent magnet, the size of the motor.This paper apply for two-dimensional electromagnetic finite element to optimize the size of HESRM, including stator and roto arc, the statos yoke the rotor diameter and permanent magnet, it summarizes the design and optimization of the motor, and analyzes the role of electrical excitation in the mixed excitation.Finally, this paper compares the performance of the new HESRM and the traditional SRM. Through the comparison, it gets the conclusion that the HESRM has higher power density, large out torque in the high current situation, est. And the feasibility of the program is verified by the testing of traditional prototype and the simulation comparison.
