Three-dimensional nonlinear FEM is used for dynamic response analysis of high concrete face rockfill dam under earthquake Disaster. The results reveal dam operation behavior under earthquake action. The main factors which impact dynamic response of high CFRD are analyzed; and the safety evaluation is suggested for high CFRD under earthquake. This paper puts forward some seismic strengthening measures which combined with practical project. The main contents are as follows:1) By useing advanced discrete grid technology, the 3D mesh of CFRD which contains the mountain elements, the joints and construction sequence information is automatic generated from GEODAM–CAD program.2) Based on the E-B model, the static operation behavior analysis of Dong Qing high concrete face rockfill dam is obtained in detail.3) Based on the equivalent viscoelastic model, dynamic response behavior of high concrete face rockfill dam is obtained. Interface model subroutine is written, which can make stress and deformation of the concrete face more realistic.4) Based on the modified Shen Zhujiang residual strain model, the residual deformation of subroutine is written. Residual deformation of high concrete face rockfill dam is calculated by this program.5) Hydrodynamic pressure and the different input seismic have some impact on dynamic response of high concrete face rockfill dam under earthquake disaster. This paper implements some comparative analysis for these factors, and gives some suggestion for seismic disaster prevention and reduction.6) The arc-wave walls and rockfill interaction with contract effect is considered in calculation. The effect of arc-wave wall to crest dynamic response is also analysised.
