Due to features of small volume, high power density, good dynamic performance and significant advantages in special using, disc coreless permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) has been a hot research in hub driving. According to basic requirements of hub driving, designing a suitable control system for disc coreless PMSM is the main purpose of this paper. Aim at sensor less control of hub wheel, a novel control system which is based on improved model reference adaptive system (MRAS) is proposed in this paper.Review development of hub driving, study structure and principle of disc coreless PMSM and analysis the motor hub wheel using feasibility. And then, analysis coreless structure and Halbach array influence of control and deduce mathematical model of disc coreless PMSM. After hub driving strategy is summarized, speed control strategy is adopted because the need of multiple motors controlled coordinately. Vector control based on SVPWM is designed according to this motor parameters linear and permanent magnet work point stable. Due to hub wheel wicked using environment and sensor control inherent defects, sensor less control or hub driving is a key research. Through studying principle of MRAS and fuzzy PI, a new identification system based on fuzzy PI is designed because fuzzy PI has parameter self-tuning and can control without accurate mathematical model. Load and no load starting performance is mainly simulated in Matlab. To verify validity of this algorithm, vector control system based on DSP is designed and some circuits are simulated in Multisim.Simulation and experiment all show that, this designed vector control system for high rated speed disc coreless PMSM satisfy basic requirement of hub driving, so it can be used in hub driving. Due to the accurate mathematical model, linear parameters and special advantage of fuzzy PI, improved MRAS can get ideal control effect.
