The far-field noise of two dimensional multi-element highlift device L1T2 slat model was calculated using commercialCFD software FLUENT. LES model was used in flow fieldanalysis to provide noise source data, while the FW-H methodwas used to calculate the far-field noise levels. The far-fieldnoise of flow around a circular cylinder was computed formethod validation. To study the effects of gap and overlap onboth maximum lift coefficient and noise levels, a total of 24different combinations of gap and overlap were analyzed, andtwo response surface models were built from the results. Theresponse surface models indicate that it is possible to find com-binations of gap and overlap to achieve a balance between aero-dynamic performance and noise characteristics.
