In recent years, wind power generation technology is the fastest growing renewable energy technology. Various countries scholars focus on how to reasonable and effective carry out the research on wind power technology in laboratory conditions. Based on analysis of wind power imitation system at home and abroad, this paper use a squirrel-cage induction wind power imitation platform with two gear boxes.In this paper, based on intermittent and random of wind energy, use basic wind, gust, gradual changed wind and random wind of these four models to simulate the real situation of second-level wind speed changes, built the wind speed model according to actual wind farm. The traditional wind turbine imitation system can only imitate the equal power of wind turbine characteristics, it is difficult to use a small-power wind turbine simulator to imitate the characteristics of MW wind turbine in laboratory conditions, for the limitations of existing wind turbine simulator, this paper proposed a new method of use asynchronous motor drag reducer to simulate the low speed of MW wind turbine operating characteristics, such as power and torque characteristics were scaled. For the two cases of wind speed changes and rotor speed changes, in MATLAB simulation environment was verified, the results show the feasibility of the method. Meanwhile, this paper analyze the principle of maximum wind power capture, compared to several current Maximum Power Point Tracking(MPPT) algorithm and analysis the advantages and disadvantages of each method. Focus on the research of variable-step method and three point comparing method, and simulate in different wind conditions. Based on analysis of theory and simulation, build a 22kW squirrel-cage induction wind power experiment platform in laboratory. The main control program is written by VC++, the development of human-machine interface can control the entire system for real-time, and can achieve the online monitoring and analysis of torque, speed, power, current and voltage signals. Finally through the experiment of wind turbine characteristics and maximum power point tracking, verify the effectiveness and practicability of the wind power experimental platform.
