As one of the expressions of frequency stability in frequency domain, phase noise is an important technical parameter in many modem electronic equipments, and its test-equipments have aroused wide attention. With the development of electronic technology, the requirements of sensitivity and resolution in measurement system of phase noise is more and more rigorous.At first, the definition of phase noise and its methods of measurement is introduced in this paper, and the achievement of the technical program using phase detector to test phase noise is briefly described. In this method, phase noise is extracted through phase comparison. And the measurement is accomplished through spectrum analysis. Secondly, the paper focuses on the classical spectrum estimation and parameter model spectrum estimation method in phase noise spectrum estimation and makes a broad discussion. Finally, the validity of the algorithm is verified through MATLAB. Initial results were achieved, laying a certain foundation for further work.
