Various schemes were put forward in order to make rotorcraft fly faster, such as compound helicopter, ABC-type helicopter, tilt-rotor aircraft, autogiro, and so on. Any scheme is provided to solve major reasons which cause rotorcraft couldn't fly faster. Two key problems restrict the speed of rotorcraft contain air flow separation and shock-stall caused by asymmetry of air flow. As the compound helicopter, ABC-type rotor, tilt-rotor technology exist complex and difficult structural issues. Autogiro with simple structure and practicality has been paid much mention gradually.In the paper, through comparing with the advantages and disadvantages of various schemes of rotorcraft, an autogiro high-speed scheme with many advantages is formed at the base of ZX-1 type autogiro by reducing drag and increasing lift. Autogiro high-speed scheme has higher speed, longer voyage, simpler structure, more convenient maintenance, more economical than helicopter. Autogiro high-speed scheme also has better low-speed performance than aircraft. It can jump takeoff without a runway. Meanwhile, autogiro high-speed scheme has good security because of auto rotated rotor.In the paper, the aerodynamic layout and the key technical difficulties are put forward in the process of overall design of autogiro high-speed scheme. The technical measures mainly contain reducing drag and increasing lift. Ultimately, the aerodynamic layout design of autogiro high-speed scheme is completed. The performance calculation of autogiro high-speed scheme is completed to prove the feasibility of these technical measures. The aerodynamic characteristics of fuselage are researched by numerical simulation calculation. Simultaneously, it lays the base of further overall design of autogiro high-speed scheme.Flight dynamics characters of autogiro high-speed scheme include balance, stability and maneuverability are researched. The research for lift-drag characteristics of autogiro high-speed scheme is completed, which proves its feasibility.
