The development and utilization new pollution-free energy has become an urgent problem with the reduction of coal, oil, natural gas and other tradition energy. The vertical axis wind power generation system is a kind of test system which makes use of new non-polluting energy– the wind. The Wind energy is transform to the mechanical energy through the wind rotation and then converted into electricity through the generator. The output voltage is stabled through the regulator for the charge to the battery, thereby the stable power can be provided to the user. Meanwhile, the charge voltage and wind wheel speed can be displayed on the screen.The instable AC is issued by the new wind power installations with the new wheel. The shunt regulator which is regulated by the voltage regulator circuit is used to steady the unstable AC and converted it into the stable DC, and then the battery is charged by the stable DC. The MCU control on-off time of IGBT, thus a closed-loop is formed by the system to control charge voltage. And the charging voltage is displayed on the screen. At the same time, the Hall sensor is used to measure the speed of the wind wheel which is displayed on the screen. In addition, the relay controlled by MCU can also enhancing the work performance and efficiency of battery.This wind power generation system is consisting by three parts: the machinery system, regulation system and monitoring system. The output parameters and the mechanical structure of two new power generations are described in the machinery system. The input module, voltage regulator module and driver module which plays the role of regulation to the output voltage is described in the regulation system. Monitoring and control system is made up of hardware system and software system. The core of hardware system is the ATMEGA16 microcontroller, including the signal conditioning module, PWM module, display module, and control module. The controlled of IGBT, the collection to the data of speed and charge voltage as well as the control of the relay are completed by monitoring and control system. The results of Experimental and simulation show that the Vertical axis wind power generation system own many advantage, such as the high power generation efficiency, good performance of regulators, precision and accurate of measurement as well as the Simplicity of the control, which bring the determinate practical value to this system.
