Electric power steering is a new automobile steering system. It has steering ease,highsafety,road sense good ,light weight,energy-saving,environmentally-friendly and many other advantages completed with the before automobile steering system. And it is consistent with the development of modern automobile electronics and intelligent requirements. It is gradually replacing the traditional hydraulic steering system, and has become the focus of attention of car technology.Firstly, the paper analyses the basic structure of EPS and creates a EPS Mathematical model. Basing on the Mathematical model, the paper analyses the Characteristics of Electric Power Steering System and identify the target current control scheme, conducts a simulation of the Power Characteristics. Secondly,according to the design parameters require,electric power steering system of motor, torque sensor, speed sensor, gear box parts were analyzed and selected, then three-dimensional model of system is created using CATIA. Finally, the paper researches the control circuit of EPS and establishes a laboratory bench basing on MicroAutoBox. And then the Power steering control strategy is developed using MATLAB / simulink, Rapid Control Prototyping is created. At the end, Control strategies of EPS is proved by experiment on the laboratory bench.
