Seismic damage analysis of engineering structures is one key mode of the new generation of"Performance-Based Earthquake Engineering (PBEE)", which is studied widely. However, the results of element damage analysis are more than that of structural damage analysis, and 2D damage analysis is paid more attention than 3D damage analysis. Thus it is valuable to carry out 2D and 3D seismic damage analysis for reinforced concrete frame structures.The contents of this thesis can be summarized in the following four parts:1. Five element damage models in the damage class of OpenSees and Lu-Wang damage model proposed by Lu and Wang are introduced. The energy factorβof Lu-Wang model is predicted by an empirical formula, which is generated by statistical processing using the database of Pacific Earthquake Engineering Research (PEER) centre.2. The Kratzig damage model, Mehanny-Deierlein damage model and HystereticEnergy damage model in the damage class of OpenSees are revised and vertified. The Lu-Wang damage model was added into the damage class of OpenSees. Different circular and rectangular concrete columns are employed as numerical examples to compare six different damage models.3. Two different finite element models for the same designed structure are generated using displacement-based beam-column element and beam-with-hinge element. The element damage index of the former model are calculated by OpenSees directly and that of the latter, MATLAB is utilized to compute its element damage indice. Three kinds of weighting factors are adopted to derive the 2D damage index of RC plan frame structures. A new importance indices of elements based on component damage is proposed and applied into the 2D structures.4. A new three-dimensional local seismic damage model is proposed and the 3D damage indices of 3D RC frame structures according to two types of global damage models are obtained.
