The Theory Of Creating Traditional Village Human Settlement And Its Contemporary Implications

The traditional village human settlement was the product created both by people and the nature in the agriculture times, which contained plenty of planning and designing wisdom that suit the territorial environment and was full of original spirit of the native soil culture. At present, with the development of the economy, human settlement environment has been deteriorating, which results in many questions needed to be solved eagerly. For this reason, to research and rescue the traditional village are of great urgency. Accurately grasp the historical and cultural connotations of settlements and find the proper planning and designing methods is not only the main part of village human settlements research, but also has significance to design and build modern village. Despite the different characteristics of ancient and modern living environment, human nature has not changed since ancient times, the traditional people living wisdom can still be used for village construction today.This thesis took the example of traditional village in Jinzhong, Shanxi Province, guided by sciences of human settlements ,to research the wisdom of ancient living environment construction. Based on the analyzation of traditional village development, seeking the way of the ancient making human settlements, summarizing the characteristics of traditional village spatial pattern, and then reach to the architectural form characteristics and the ideal pattern of traditional village contracture. Further more, through the analyzation of the modern village development and building problems, and comparing with the present designing establishment, the defects of modern village living settlement were pointed out. Finally, by comparing the difference between ancient and modern living environment and reflecting the real problems, propose the references that draw from the planning model of traditional village living environment, which hold significant meaning to guide our future planning of future new rural countryside.
