The bridge is an important part of modern transportation, it plays a positive role in promoting the development of the national economy. In order to protect the normal operation of the bridge,we must carry out it's health monitoring regularly. At present, the monitoring of bridge health status in our country is mainly wired, there are many defects in tedious wiring, long time consuming and so on. With the development of wireless communication technology, the use of wireless becomes possible, but the communication distance is limited.By comparing with the common short-range wireless communication technology in the aspects of distance, frequency resources, transfer rate, power consumption, and so on, it researches a relay switching system based on ZigBee and WiFi technology in order to realize wireless transmission of monitoring information according to detailed functional requirements of the project. The converter is based on ARM hardware platform, embedded Linux software platform and ZigBee and WiFi technology, software realization process in details includes choice of S3C2440 microprocessor Samsung produced based on ARM9, Wireless Module and design of main Interface circuit . It involves Custom and Transplantation of embedded Linux software platform, Therefore, the research,not only extending the wireless communication distance , but also processing facilitately the reception data, is one of key technologies in bridge wireless detection system. application software development based on Embedded Visual C++ integrated development environment. By useing related technology and application software design,it gives a specific solution for the problems of sub-channel interference and channel competitive conflict in multi-point to one-point communication in the design process. In order to verify the effective communication distance and data transmission rate of designed converter, we have real test. The results show that the wireless bridge monitoring system ZigBee-WiFi converter can receive health status information,store and transmits. At the end of this paper, it proposes the lack of system design and problems need to be improved .
