The energy crisis, environment pollution and climate warming have become themain problems of the world facing today. Solar energy is a kind of clean,pollution-free and sustainable energy. Using renewable energy, including solarenergy, can effectively ease the energy crisis, prevent environmental pollution andcurb global warming, is major initiatives to protect the ecological environment andwalk the road of sustainable economic and social development. As an importantcomponent in the field of solar energy thermal utilization, solar air collectors arewidely used in solar greenhouses, grain drying, etc industries. Designing and makingwith high performance of solar air collectors have profound significance forimproving the utilization of solar energy. The performance of a cross V shapeabsorbing plate-V shape bottom air collector is compared and studied on the twoaspects of theoretical simulation and experiment in this paper.Two different cross V shape absorbing plate-V shape bottom air collectors(Transverse Cross V Type, Lengthways Cross V Type;For Transverse Cross V Typecollector, the V shape of the bottom plate that is along the flow direction and that ofthe absorbing plate is perpendicular to the flow direction; For Lengthways Cross VType collector, it is the V shape of the absorbing plate is along the flow direction andthat of the bottom plate is perpendicular to the flow direction) and a flat plate aircollector were designed and made,and the performance of two different cross Vshape absorbing plate-V shape bottom air collectors have been researched andcompared under the different angle and different air flow velocity; meanwhile, theperformance of Transverse Cross V Type air collector has been tested and analyzedunder forward and reverse ventilation. The results show that the performance ofTransverse Cross V Type air collectors is better than Lengthways Cross V Type aircollector, when45°angle the rise of temperature of those collectors are highest.Maximum efficiency of Transverse Cross V Type and Lengthways Cross V Type air collectors are71%and68%,respectively. The performance of Transverse Cross VType air collector reverse flow is better than when positive flow.To analyzing with qualitative and quantitative for the performance of cross Vshape absorbing plate-V shape bottom air collector, efficiency and difference of inletand outlet temperature of3collectors had been studied and compared by simulationand experimental under different air flow rate, different inclination angle anddifferent irradiation intensity. Simulation results showed that efficiency anddifference of inlet and outlet temperature of Transverse Cross V Type were higherthan Lengthways Cross V Type’s and Flat Plate Type’s with initial condition1%,0.1℃;17%,2.5℃respectively. Experimental results showed that efficiency anddifference of inlet and outlet temperature of Transverse Cross V Type were higherthan Lengthways Cross V Type’s and Flat Plate Type’s with initial condition1%,0.1℃;18%,2.6℃respectively. Simulation and experimental showed that efficiency of3air collectors would be significantly increased with increasing of the air flow rate,meanwhile difference of inlet and outlet temperature of three collectors would besmaller. Effect of inclination angle and irradiation intensity were small onperformance of3air collectors, but difference of inlet and outlet temperature of3aircollectors would be increased with increasing of irradiation intensity, showed a linearchange.Studying of this paper can provide theoretical foundation for optimization andimprovement of cross V shape absorbing plate-V shape bottom air collectors, also canprovide scientific basis for popularization and application of the cross V shapeabsorbing plate-V shape bottom air collectors.
