Research Of Analysis And Design Of Shape Of Watch Based On Shape-Space

For watch design,shape design plays an important role,as a core part.The paper mainly completes the research of the four aspects of the watch shape: the analysis method,the design method,the analysis case and the design case.The paper proposed the SHAPE SPACE theory to analyze the watch shape.By sorting out the generation process of different shapes,the structure of the shape space is divided into three components: the Basic Shape Elements,the Basic Shape Changes and the Shape Steps.The Basic Shape Elements compose of all kinds of simple linear,surfaces,bodies.The selection of these Basic Shape Elements should follow the corresponding principles.The paper also lists the common Basic Shape Elements.The Basic Shape Changes are a geometric change from one or more Basic Shape Elements,including both computer style and human style.They also need the corresponding principles to define the Basic Shape Changes.The paper lists the commonly used Basic Shape Changes,too.As for the shape steps,the paper established a keyword system from text analysis.Then use keywords to sort out the node steps.Finally complete the shape steps.Based on the shape space,split the watch shape module.Establish the shape space of each module.Gath all of them,and get the shape space of the watch.Based on the shape space,the paper established a shape innovation method.First,design an original watch,and build its shape space,and then choose innovative shape to meet the design goals,and build its shape space.Compare the two shape space,chose the latter’s shape features,and graft the features to shape space of each models of the basic watch.Then in accordance with the original shape steps to regenerate the basic watch,finally achieve the watch shape innovation.The paper named this method SHAPE GRAFTING.In the case practice,this article makes use of the method of building shape space to conduct a detailed shape analysis and statistics on dozens of watches headed by Vacheron Constantin.According to the results obtained from the analysis and statistics,the design ideas of these watches,the balance strategy among the various shape modules of the watch,and the typical practices of the serialized design of the watch are obtained.Finally,this article uses Shape Grafting to complete the watch design case.In the case design,the author designed an ordinary round watch.Moreover,using Ming-style furniture,for example,to extract its shape features.Then graft Ming-style features of furniture into this round watch,to get a variety of innovative "Ming-style" watch.Finally,pick one of them to correspond series of design.
