More and more people spend their day most of the time in the office, people eager to pursue the work environment in the milk of human kindness, hope can feel comfortable and have fun in the office space.This thesis studies is the theme of the light environment of office space. The light is closely linked with each of us, so that we can see everything around the sensation, natural light is giving us a very wonderful thing, it helps us to see the environment, feel the environment. This study chose the office space because compared to the commercial space and residential space, office space has more features. Office space is a relatively complicated space environment, and most people are closely related with it. The development degree of the social civilization, with modern productivity level, in the social development of the line, is a very worthy of study space environment. Nowadays, there is a phenomenon worthy of studying, is the modern office space filled with liquid crystal more and more display terminal, whether the computer or TV, these light emitting display called VDT devices, in which use a lot of VDT equipment operating office environment, changes that need to happen illumination conditions, not as simple as before. How should we conduct lighting design can make people living in one of the more comfortable, this also is this article research content and objectives. Create a good environment in the office space,need to let natural light and artificial light combination. How to correctly handle the relationship between functional art lighting and the lighting in the practical application, the design is more conducive to energy conservation and environmental protection, how to reduce light pollution is the need to further consideration.This article is discussing the light environment design in Thoughtworks Xi’an office. Thoughtworks, global IT software consulting firm, locates on1th and15th floor, Building B of Xi’an Software Park. The employees are mainly software programmer with a big number of Visual Display Terminals in the office. It is a very typical light environment of VDT, which is a very suitable case study of this article.The author studies on the office light environment design through research, and found some existing problems on four aspects. Illuminance, light distribution and glare; combination of artificial light with natural light; color temperature and tones; light devices and its distribution. The purpose is to analyze the existing defects and try to find some valuable conclusions on how to improve the light environment.Office environment is very essential to every employee. Studies on light environment are a critical element of a good office design, which could satisfy both physical and psychological demands of the employees. When the working environment could consider the physical and psychological needs, the employees feel relax and enjoy the working space. The efficiency will be improved obviously with passion under this circumstance.Light designing for a working palace has been restructured with the development of studies and researches on office light environment. The design is no longer limited on practical function of lights, it turns to be more innovative and artistic, and involves personal and romantic elements. The essential meaning of studies on light environment of working palace is to find the balance of providing a good feeling both physically and psychologically. In that case, the light environment in the working palace could supply more cares on their higher demands of feelings, which could help the employees to have better efficiency and performance in their works.To summarize, the author accumulates more knowledge on how to design and improve the office light environment after the research. For Thoughtworks, it could help them to understand better of their light environment design, in order to provide a more confortable work atmosphere for its employees.
