As we enter the20th century, the image of urban color were suffering indifferent extent,the relevant issues that is the color pollution, which made theimage of the city cause the great concern by public, although there are many relevantresearch in terms of improvement of urban color, the viabilit y and effectivenessactually still need to be established.This paper mainly focuses on Nanjing city as the research objective, based onthe Internal and overseas research actuality and the perception of the VisualCommunication Arts and Design in order to seeking for the solutions of theconcerned issues about Urban color of Nanjing.,The innovation of this paper is that the research design and researchmethodology is based on the amount of research surveys and use quantitative methodto establish a system of color analysis in the later period.The last result of urban color in Nanjing such as primary color, secondary color,the ornament color of city landscape and color wheel diagram of natural plantslandscapes were concluded by the measurement data. The refore, the effectiveness ofurban color of Nanjing can be presented as better status.This paper is divided into six chapters: Chapter one points out the studybackground, the significance of this paper and color used in the planning system, anddefined the prerequisites, principles and objectives. Chapter two is a statistical studyon the status quo of domestic and overseas, poses the problems of research currently,leads to the constituent elements of the city and explain it in detail. On the basis ofchapter two, chapter three analyze and find out the key issue of city color, namelycontrol elements, make a detailed chart explaining of it, and introduce the studytools used in this article: city color analysis system software "profox" and colorsystem Munsell Color System. The fourth chapter is based on the first three chaptersof foreshadowing, begin case study for Nanjing city color planning of Nanjing cityand11buildings in the region targeted research and analysis, designed in line withmethods of urban research and guide by mathematical parameters, develop coloranalysis system by utilizing "Foxpro" software, simple quantitative management andanalysis for the data of research and review. Chapter five is to collect and key-in incolor analysis system for comparison and analysis of color management, identifyprimary colors and secondary colors of the city of Nanjing, create ideally colorwhich the buildings required and color wheel diagram of the natural plants landscape,sum up the city’s primary colors and secondary colors and embellishment colors.Chapter six present a summary of research results and innovation points and a briefdescription of the difficulties and shortcomings encountered in the process. The research methodology used by researcher is to ensure the rationality,objectivity and validity of the entire design process. Thesis research present newideas for main colors of urban color design method and suggest references toquantitative method of urban color.
