As an active optical fuze, laser fuze senses the presence of target by emitting the laser beam, receiving and processing the echo signal. In order to realize the fuze’s accurate recognition to target, we must know the laser scattering features of target surface materials. Since the Bidirectional Reflectance Distribution Function (BRDF) can truly reflect the scattering features of the material surface under a variety of wave bands, this paper mainly studied the BRDF of the typical materials and some BRDF-related issues.In view of the laser fuze for current Air-to-Air, surface-to-Air missiles, this paper studied the laser scattering features of target surface materials under the condition of near field. It mainly focused on the optimization and statistical modeling of BRDF for multiple target surface samples under 1.06um,0.905um, and 0.86um laser wavelengths. The specific studies were as belows:Firstly, it studied theories related to reflection of surfaces of different types, provided the definition of BRDF and several related physical quantities, analyzed several common statistical models of BRDF, and focused on the study of Five-Parameter model.Then, it completed the optimization modeling of the BRDF statistical model for multiple target surface samples based on Genetic Simulated Annealing (GSA) hybrid algorithm, and wrote the "Parameter Optimization of BRDF Statistical Model" and "BRDF Computing" software under C++Builder6.And next, it completed the related parameters’ optimization processing of the Five-Parameter BRDF model for several target surface samples based on Time-Varying Weight Particle Swarm (TVWPSO) and an kind of Embedded Deterministic Search Continuous Ant Colony (EDSCACA) algorithms, and provided the optimization results.Finally, some related applications of BRDF were studied, including the calculation of Laser Radar Cross Section (LRCS) and Echo Power. The simulation of echo signal processing of laser fuze with pulse spacing system based on the simulation result of Echo Power is also studied. Meanwhile, the target recognition algorithm and algorithm’s simulation result under ISim were provided.
