Compressed air engine is a kind of new energy-saving engine which also helps to protect the environment, using compressed air as the power source, the research on it aims to alleviate the increasingly serious energy crisis and environmental pollution in the current society, having very important meanings.This paper mainly carried out on some basic research about the compressed air engine. Firstly, analyzed the energy density and the ideal available energy of the compressed air to prove that using compressed air as the power source of vehicle engine is feasible, also analyzed the driving mileage, safety performance and economic performance to prove that vehicle use compressed air engine is feasible. Then choose the structure scheme and basic parameters of the compressed air engine and established the simulation model of the working process of the compressed air engine and human-computer interaction interface in Matlab/Simulink software environment according to the thermodynamic analysis and mechanical analysis of its working process. Then get the power, the average effective torque and the gas consumption rate of compressed air engine from the simulation, and analyzed the change rule of the gas state along the working cycle in the cylinder, compared the simulation results of air pressure changes in the cylinder with the experimental results to verify the reliability of the simulation results. Finally, analyzed the influence of the main structure parameters, gas phase and working parameters of compressed air engine on its working performance, provides certain theoretical basis for further studies it in the future.Further, the optimization method of compressed air engine is studied, the optimization method of Isight software integrated with Simulink software was applied in the optimization study of compressed air engine. Under the set speed, the engine power and the mean effective torque increased by 20%, and the gas consumption rate decreased by 6% through the optimization of the structural parameters. Then based on the optimization results of the structural parameters, optimized the gas phase under different engine speed, further improved the dynamic performance and fuel economy of compressed air engine.
