At present, several commonly used shock wave damage evaluation methods have different advantages and disadvantages. Among them, the outstanding advantages of effect target assessment method are reliable, inexpensive and easy to use. Therefore, in order to study the effect target applied in shock damage assessment in different explosion experiments and to explore the assessment base on effect target, this paper mainly did the following work.1) Based on the elastic-plastic deformation theory, plastic deformation mechanism and working principle of effect target under the explosion shock wave pressure was studied. Primarily designed two kinds of effect targets and the effect target installation structures which could be used in different experiments. Take the 300×1.8mm effect target, explore the analyzed method of the dynamic characteristics.2) By means of finite element dynamic analysis software ANSYS/LS-DYNA, the model of explosive, air and effect target was established, and in the explosion tower through the small TNT equivalent explosion experiment, the simulation results was verified correct and feasible.3) Through the explosion tower experiment, studied the deformation laws of 390 x 2mm effect target used in 0.4KG,0.7kg,1.0kg TNT with different blasting distance was conducted. Effect target’s deflection function model was established by dimensional analysis and similarity theory, and the experimental results verified the reliability of the model.4) The deformation response of 300×1.8mm effect target in the large warhead explosion field experiment was researched, and correspondence between the shock wave pressure and the effect target’s deflection was established. Based on the principle of equivalent load, simplified shock wave load and simulated the loading. Comparing experimental results, which verified the loading simulation reliable.5) Set the effect target’s deflection as a reference standard, quantitatively discussed iso-damage curve theory by loading simulation and verified the iso-damage curve function. Then, quantitatively analyzed of the application scope of the shock wave damage criteria, which provided evidence for more scholars to determine appropriate damaging criteria for the structure pressed with shock wave.
