The operation scales of GIS equipments are becoming huge increasingly. With the high integration small space occupation and daily maintenance, GIS equipments are mainly apply to dense population area, therefore, the reliability of them are of great importance. Compared with mechanical fault, the fault of insulation is paid more attention by manufacturers and users as its difficult maintenance、 long power failure as well as wide scope of influence. This thesis is based on the author’s working experience in manufacturer, putting the insulation fault factors of 252kV GIS into statistical analysis, and adopting AN-SYS finite element program to simulate calculation. Due to the small size of research object, this thesis is applied to the three dimensional modeling approach for achieving accuracy of model and the real reduction situation. In order to avoid ignorance of small size parts by automatic mesh, this thesis applies customer meshing tools to conduct parameter setting module of mesh generation, complete mesh generation of small size.To verify the effectiveness of theoretical calculation, this thesis design several kinds of representative test based on calculated results. Meanwhile, some factors, which could not be calculated directly such as silicone grease and moisture on insula-tor, is also verified. The results of test are identical with calculated results. This research provides a number of supporting evidence based on insulation fault theory and test data, and testifies the feasibility and operability of applying simulating calculation to design of high-volt insulation, making great significance in improving products and developing new products for manufacturer...
