Earlier proposed three-dimensional green city, urban agriculture in different extent, ease the current situation of urban environment, but the food shortage problem is that people are still unable to solve urban problems. The concept of urban vertical farm is in urban agriculture, with farming dimensional, vertically into the purpose of modern agricultural production.The concept of urban vertical farm was originally developed by Columbia University environmental scientist Dickson Despommier proposed. Urban vertical farm refers to the city’s large-scale agricultural production, or skyscraper farms. Compared with urban agriculture, urban vertical farm suitable for the construction of the city center or the surrounding areas, it can take advantage of vertical space of urban land use to maximize efficiency and increase total food production to ensure food green, safety, relief food transport cost, ease of urban air pollution.
