Through monitor the mechanical state of high voltage circuit breaker operating mechanism, can effectively determine the reliability of the circuit breaker action. For the lack of the traditional circuit breaker monitoring methods, this paper put forward a new monitoring method which based on the technology of non-contact. On the basis of the traditional monitoring means "non-contact" sensing technology, using high speed, high resolution camera to capture the operation status of transmission part when circuit breaker closing. Using image processing and analysis technology obtain the mechanical parameters of transmission part when circuit breaker operate. When we process and analysis image signal,using particle filter directional frame-by-frame correct the motion for high voltage circuit breaker moving contact, drawing out moving contact path-time curve, and then calculating all kinds of mechanical parameters of circuit breaker.This paper set up a kind of monitoring system that include electric,sound, vibration and image signal. By setting acquisition card’s fixed sampling frequency and the camera’s frequency,we realize four kinds of signal synchronous acquisition and then we can monitorthe mechanical state of circuit breaker from multi-angle.At last, this paper conduct field debugging for the 220 kV high voltage circuit breaker, so that all the important velocity parameters can be calculated which include stroke, rigid composite time, the maximum velocity of opening-closing and the average velocity of opening-closing and so on. It is certificated that the monitoring system can meet the circuit breakers path-time of monitoring by comparing the calculated data to the data tested by equipment. This method promote the updating of non-contact testing method for circuit breaker in future.
