With the non-renewable energy exhausting and environmental pollution becoming more and more serious, there is an urgent need to find a rational and effective usage for renewable energy. Micro-grid is a collection of distributed power, load, energy storage devices and other power electronic equipments. As a supplement of the main power grid, it is becoming the direction for various countries in the world to develop new energy. Relative to the main power grid, micro-grid has some characteristics such as distributed power can be accessed flexibly, use clean energy to generate electricity, smart and controllable. Micro-grid can effectively improve the overall resilience of the main power grid, emergency power supply ability, user satisfaction of the main power grid and assist the main power grid to achieve peak-shift.Micro-grid contains a large number of distributed power and a variety of power electronic equipments, in order to ensure the safe and stable operation of the micro-grid, a flexible and intelligent control method must be taken. With the decentralized and centralized control features, MAS can effectively solve the complex control problems for micro-grid system. Discuss the application of MAS technology in micro power grid and the realization of the optimal control strategy for micro-grid is the focus of this paper. According to the principle and structure of MAS and combined with the micro-grid control objectives, the ZEUS development platform is adopted to build a MAS system. Based on the analysis of distributed power in the micro-grid (photovoltaic power and wind power), the energy storage unit and the load model, a micro-grid simulation model is built by Matlab/Simulink. According to the main power grid runs at different times and micro-grid runs in island mode, this paper has proposed an optimal control strategy for micro-grid based on MAS and conduct a simulation experiment on the simulation platform. The working conditions of storage battery at different times and operational mode, as well as the removal or access of the distributed power and load, are displayed through the task agent interactive interface. Besides, this paper has also analyzed the interaction between the micro-grid and the main grid and its economic benefits. Finally, the effectiveness and feasibility of the optimal control strategy is also demonstrated.
