In order to improve the performances of concrete, nowadays the most commonly used method is to add concrete additives and mineral admixtures to the materials during mixing. Although the adding of additives and admixtures can partly improve the performances of concrete, it also raises some problems such as cost increase. Based on the ripe research and study in the use of magnetic water and hydraulic-electric pulse activated water in mixing concrete as well as electric water in mixing mortar, use of electric water in mixing concrete to explore the effect of electric water on the performances of concrete was conducted in this paper. This paper is conducted through the combination of theoretical analyses and experimental verification. Firstly the structural characteristics of single water molecular was analyzed so that the feasibility and principle of electric activated water can be illustrated. Based on the ripe experience in the use of magnetic water and hydraulic-electric pulse activated water in mixing concrete as well as electric water in mixing mortar, two types of electric water producing equipment were used to produce electric water with two kinds of activating processes, static and circulatory, until the physicochemical properties of electric water tended to stabilize without obvious changes. Variability from plain water to four kinds of electric water were compared and analyzed to choose the electric water activated by high-frequency electric field with circulatory flow as the water used in the experimental mixing of concrete. Then the hydration reaction of cement, the performances of concrete and their influential factors were analyzed. The inference that high-frequency electric water can accelerate the hydration reaction of cement and then improve the performances of concrete was interpreted. Finally the comparative experiments between high-frequency electric water and plain water in the use of mixing concrete were designed and conducted. And the improving effect of high-frequency electric water on the performances of concrete was verified through testing the properties of fresh concrete and hardened concrete. The experimental results turned out that high-frequency electric water had more obvious improving effect on the liquidity, air content, volumetric weight performances of C20 and C40 fresh concrete and compressive strength of hardened concrete than that of C30 concrete compared with plain water. And high-frequency electric water had obvious improving effects on the water holding capacity, cohesiveness performances of fresh concrete and microstructure of C20, C30 and C40 concrete overall. However, high-frequency electric water had no obvious regularity in improving the evenness of fresh concrete with different effects on various concretes.
