Nowadays, packaging design is essential that people respect packaging requirements are also increasing. Packaging is not only the protection of commodities but also the way to promote the consumption and circulation. In addition, it can content the material and aesthetic needs of human beings. Packaging should be equipped with the exquisite appearance and the good visual attention to manifest the usage and the quality of the goods and needs to be considered with the culture connotation of commodities.With the development of the times, the incense and the incense culture acknowledged and loved by the modern people, the packaging of incense exposes many defects, such as the shortage of originality, the chaos messages of the package design, the copy behaviors in the field, the neglect of the brand image and etc. In order to promote the incense market of our country and launch the incense package which equipped with culture connotation and brand image, this paper compares the domestic incense package design with the external and study the incense packaging from material, pattern, structure, color and character and summarizes the strategy that designer should use different features and designs of different incense to the consumers who are in different environments. Put the brand image, the traditional pattern of the Tang dynasty and the incense culture into the design. This is more than a process of marketing. It also contains culture, wisdom and spirit.My graduate work takes Li Du’s incense as an example.supported by the vast research data both from China and abroad that I referred to and my deeply study of the packaging pattern in the incense market. I try to make the incense package design lead sympathies of different consumer groups and be equipped with high commercial value. The traditional pattern and culture are endless. It should awake its vitality in the modern society and integrate into every aspect in people’s life. Therefore, the deep study of the traditional pattern of the Tang Dynasty has a very important effect on incense packaging design and innovation. The workload of whole design is divided into two series, in total four package designs. The design includes patterns, characters, symbols, inner packing, outer packing, hand bags, foldouts and etc. The packaging is divided into The Heyday of the Tang Dynasty series and The Soar series. The Heyday of the Tang Dynasty includes the packaging design, pattern design and character design of He Yue and Jing Yuan incense. The Soar includes the packaging design, pattern design and character design of Qing Yun incense and Xian Ji incense. Finally, these designs will promote the brand and make Li Du’s incense become famous and popular among people.
