China’s energy shortage became increasingly severe, and air pollution became serious day by day, particularly, the smog weather frequently appeared, leading to an unprecedented energy saving and environment protection awareness of the whole society. Chine introduced from European countries the"heat metering ", which applied energy saving and emission reduction technology in thermodynamic system, metering heat by a heat meter to improve heat utilization efficiency, enhance users energy saving awareness, and achieve the goal of "Supplying heat by demands, and charging by heat metering"However, it was difficult for Chinese customers to afford the highly priced introduced heat meters, while domestic produced heat meters provided a lower price with a bad quality, a low measuring accuracy and a high maintenance cost. In addition, a few trial places installed heat meters, while it was difficult to read, thus the heat metering work promoted slowly in China. According to the results of two consecutive year of spot check by the Ministry of Construction and AQSIQ of China,90% of users who installed the heat meter did not realize charging by heat metering, but by area. Therefore, an accurate heat meter and a convenient remote centralized metering system had a great market potential. For the above mentioned problems, a heat metering system based on internet of things consisting of a heat meter, a collector, and the wireless terminal was designed in this topic. The heat meter measured flow by ultrasound time-difference method, and measured temperature by capacity discharge method. And the measurement would be finished by highly integrated TDC-GP22 chips, then heat would be calculated by the micro-controller. In the process of measurement, the first wave measurement pattern was used, which could remind the signal intensity effectively and avoid the interference of bubbles and impurities, thus the measurement accuracy would be enhanced greatly. In order to make wiring easier and increase drive capacity, a data acquisition unit was designed based on M-BUS, which not only made wiring flexible, but also could provide remote power supply for heat meters to extend their lifetime. Finally, the internet of things was applied in wireless reading of data, and a wireless data transmission terminal was designed based on GPRS, which helped to realize wireless transmission of data.A system of internet of things involving a sensing layer, network layer and application layer was built in this topic, through which wireless transmission of data based on accurate measurement could be realized, and it was convenient for enterprises to conduct a real-time monitoring on heat data, thus it had a great significance for the realization of an intelligent thermodynamic system of heat metering, transparent consumption, automatic monitoring, and scientific management.
