In today’s China, with the rapid development of economy, various kinds of social problems are constantly emerging, it would be particularly important for us to make a further comprehensive study of residential building design in advance. Based on this, Chengdu region was taken as the object in this paper to make a correlation analysis for housing design. Firstly, this article briefly described the history of development and the status quo of the commodity residential house in Chengdu, and then analyzed some factors affecting the development of the Chengdu commodity housing design, which are in order to conduct a comprehensive analysis of housing design of Chengdu. Facing the new opportunities for developing of house-type in Chengdu, puts forward the following main research contents of this article that is the optimal design of residential space and storage space.In this paper is put forward the optimization principles and main points of housing design, which is aiming at the defects of small-scale residential design in Chengdu region at present stage, and analyzed how to more reasonable allocated the internal space and how to optimal design of each functional space such as master bedroom, bedrooms and study by using instance analysis. Through the optimization design of house-type, it would be achieved the main goals of improving the smoothness and amenity of housing design.In order to further meet users’ demands for living space and storage space. the optimization of the storage space is also should be taken into considered. This text exactly proceeds from the level of architectural design, and combined with the requirements of living space, as well as customers’ expectations and daily usage habits etc., the optimization design on unemployed space is carried out to reach the goals of internal space optimization and improving the internal space utilization.In this dissertation, summarized the design principles and rules, which is housing type d esign should be followed, on the basis of the combination of the development of practical ex perience in domestic and international as well as the commodity housing market research in Chengdu. Besides that, the author analyzed how to carry on the relevant optimization design of house-type by using instance analysis, which is provides reference for the future design of commercial residential building, has a certain practical value.
