When the vehicle is running at high speed, the steering wheel angle is not too large, and the lateral acceleration is small. The vehicle that often runs on a highway at high speed should have a good sense of road in this area.According to the principle of design of steering performance, plan the "on center steering test".This test is used to characterize the steering performance of a vehicle at a low steering frequency and low to moderate lateral accelerations. It is intended to measure performance in a range typical of highway driving and on roads requiring mild to moderate turning. This paper first discusses the main research methods of handling stability test, combined with the dynamic characteristics of the vehicle field map, analysis of the current commonly used test conditions, which leads to on center steering test. After the analysis and comparison of the on center steering test method used by different automobile enterprises and Research Center, the best continuous sine wave input test is chosen as the object of this paper.Secondly, the dynamic analysis of each index is involved, and it is used as the basis of evaluation index system to ensure the comprehensive evaluation of the content.Third, for three sets of a representative of light-duty bus to continuous sine wave input of steering wheel center location controllability and stability test, main content including the test preparation, implementation and eigenvalue processing method. Finally, A light passenger car was used as the research object, based on the types of vehicle handling and stability performance in the presence of problems, determine the optimal scheme and the steady-state rotation, on center test and subjective evaluation. The experimental results verify the effectiveness of optimization scheme.
