Steering knuckle is one of the safety parts of the automobile suspension system, which guarantees the stability of the vehicle. Its failure will result in the loss of the ability of flexible turning of the vehicle, causing unpredictable loss of life and property. Therefore, this paper takes McPherson steering knuckle as the research object, and comprehensively applies finite element analysis and bench test to verify and predict the performance of steering knuckle at the part level. The main research contents are as follows:Firstly, the nonlinear constitutive relation of aluminum alloy material was generated in ABAQUS,and the simulation model was simplified on the premise that the calculation accuracy was not significantly affected, and the stiffness of five mounting points of the knuckle was analyzed.Secondly, the strength analysis of the steering knuckle is carried out,the vonMises,?1and equivalent plastic strain cloud graph are obtained in the extreme condition. In addition, the forcings at the loading point are collected in the bench test with the change curve of displacement,so as to verify the accuracy of the finite element model of ultimate strength. Then, modified the aluminum alloy material?-N curve, analyzed the fatigue characteristics of the steering knuckle under different working conditions, evaluated the fatigue performance of the steering knuckle, and conducted bench test to collect strain data of the steering knuckle surface for comparison with simulation results to verify the accuracy of the proposed fatigue criterion. Finally, based on the sensitivity analysis results, the local shape of the steering knuckle was optimized, and the bench test was conducted on the steering knuckle samples to verify the accuracy of the finite element shape optimization results.
