In recent years, due to the frequent occurrence of the bridge collapse accident, the safety, durability and health of the bridge has aroused wide concern of the social public. There is an urgent need for the introduction of scientific methods to monitor bridge’s daily operations, in which case the research and development of bridge health monitoring system emerges as the times require. With the rapid development of digital information technology, dominated by intelligence, and related hardware technique, it is possible that the bridge health monitoring system becomes more and more networked, automatic and intelligent.The existing difficulties, technique nodus and the critical problems, in bridge health monitoring research, are analyzed and further discussed in this thesis. Based on the bridge monitoring theory, combining the development trend with actual demand, this dissertation proposes the field bridge health monitoring system based on ARM.The system, equipped with ARM9 MCU, utilizing wireless network, is applied in bridge’s daily operation to implement real-time acquisition of bridge’s monitoring information, field data display and excessive alarm. In order to achieve the purpose of modern scientific management, the collected information is uploaded to remote server for data analysis, historical data query and bridge health level assessment. When the health status of the bridge appears abnormal, the remote monitoring center will inform the client application and the relevant information will be sent to the site staff mobile phone in the form of Bluetooth, in which case, staff intuitively grasps the historical trend of the bridge operating data and simple health assessment, and completes the rapid troubleshooting of faulty equipment.This thesis designs and implements the hardware and software of bridge health monitoring system, which runs successfully after repeatedly experiments and debugging. The bridge health monitoring system proposed in this thesis not only aims to conduct in-depth discussion on the key issues, but also proposes a new method of the research and development of the bridge remote monitoring system with extended value and stable performance.
