The economic importance of wood as a major renewable resource is rapidly increasing. To improve productivity and cutting accuracy of wood and to modify characteristics of band saw, it is essential that we study vibration characteristics of band saw.This thesis designs a new band saw straining device that changes and improves the original lever-weight-tightening device. The studying object of the dissertation is the MJ3 17 model band saw machine with elastic prop model tension system, which takes the place of original lever weight model tension system. The experimental results under idling shows that the elastic prop model tension system is better than lever-weight-tightening the system. It is also proved that the elastic prop model tension of band saw machine has a good applying prospect. When free running this device decrease the vibration of blade. This paper studies transverse-torsion vibration of blade and formulates the equation of motion of band saw blades. The solution of this thesis can be the manufacture reference and the original theory base of research of tightening device dynamics analysis of band saw in the future.
