From the basic concept on the two-phase optimum of the engineering structures? optimal design, the paper , by means of remembering and comparing, presents a new improved method of structural optimization design for discrete variable truss structures. First, the 0-1 programming mathematical model of the discrete variable truss structures?optimal design is established by changing the discrete variable to the 0-1 variable. Then, the paper exchanges the 0-1 programming mathematical model with the continuous variable programming mathematical model by providing and applying the equivalence exchange theorem, which exchanges the 0-1 variable constraint with the continuous variable constraint. With the maximum entropy criterion, the paper puts up a new impoved maximum entropy method for the optimization designing of truss structures. In iterating computation, the method can automatically search the variable scope of next step by remember the nearest optimization computation result. So this method avoids the alternative iterating computation of alternative iterative iterating computation of multiplier phase and fabric phase, and just analysis the entropy of discrete variable. So the method makes its computational efforts reduced significantly. In this paper, we also establish the program related to the structural optimal design, Some examples of truss structures were computed and analyzed.
