Structural optimum design, which incorporates the speciality design theory, optimum methods and computer technology, is to make structural design scheme rationalization, scientific and satisfactory. It has been widely applied in aviation and so on for structural optimum design which is able to make structures arrival at safe and economical aim, but in the civil filed, its research seldom puts into practice.Since the end of 1990s, spatial truss structure of concrete filled steel tube, which is new structure type for bridge, has been applied gradually in bridge engineering. Comparing with concrete box-girder structure, there are many advantages such as structural material, behavior, construction, economic benefit and so on . Whereas as a new structure, spatial truss structure of concrete filled steel tube still has much questions which need be dealt with.Optimization design for spatial truss structure of concrete filled steel tube is studied in this dissertation. On the basis of theory of structural optimum design and behavior of poles in structure of concrete filled steel tube, the optimization mode is built, and programming of static calculation for truss structure and optimization algorithm with discrete variables is developed by using language of FORTRAN. The result of optimization design for actual engineering indicates that optimization design makes structure more reasonable, improves design efficiency, and obtains greatly economic benefit.
