A Study On Fulxgate Compass

Based on the analysis of the phenomenon, the principles of its operation and the characteristics of the flux gate, this article has explored the necessities and possibilities of the replacement of the traditional compass in navigation as a direction giving system by flux gate compass. It also describes the structure of fluxgate magnetic core and has revised its Mathematics Model base on the effect of convergence and demagnetization of fluxgate magnetic core, and illustrates how to select the parameters of fluxgate magnetic core. This article has also further analysed the method in which flux gate compass is designed and made. As a result of all above work, a fluxgate compass was developed. Compared with magnetic compass in merely earth magnetic field environment (with no outer magnetic field interference), the test result indicated: when the fluxgate compass is horizontal, the least of the error is 0? and the largest error is 0?, which of the average is 0. 2? Finally, the article analyses the error and the problems to be solved in the further development of fluxgate compass in navigation.
