This thesis systematacially expatiates on definition and calculation methods about capacity of urban road network, based on internal and oversea research in road capacity .It establishes general calculation flow by example, it makes certain key road segment of urban road network and reckons capacity of urban road network, combining graph theory method and traffic distribution simulation method.In the first it reviews and analyses history, status in quo and trend of internal and oversea study in capacity of road network. It analyses research method, based on network description and configuration. It goes into graph theory in many ways, analyze and compare their applicability N advantage and disadvantage, then finds out a algorithm and on road network of fixed start points and end points. Subsequently it applies traffic distribution simulation way to the capacity research of urban network. It is a method of incremental assignment. Later it gives an example to compare two ways and establish system on capacity study of urban road network.In the end of the paper I summarized the fruits of my work and I put up directional suggestions of researching emphases for the future. I hope it have valuable try for the study on capacity of urban road network.
