Urban traffic supply-demand is expanded rapidly along with the continuous growth of urban economy and constant extension of urban scale and population. As the supply and demand are in a state of imbalance, access capabilities of road network will descend. Consequently researches into urban road network must be enforced. More and more experts and scholars will be devoted to such studies.The first important task for the studies program is to choose a proper model as to calculate the capacity of road network. After the capacity of road network is worked out, how to reform the low-performing travel should be solved as a main problem.The definition and computing methods of the capacity of road network are exposited systematically on the basis of studies at home and abroad. At the beginning of this thesis, research history and present situation at home and abroad are reviewed and analyzed. A variety of models and relative merits for traffic assignment are analyzed systematically. The theory about traffic assignment is applied to the research. The capacity limitation-multipath incremental loading OD matrix traffic distribution simulation method is obtained through selecting. An instance is analyzed and calculated subsequently.In the big cities, the traffic situation is becoming more and more serious. The contradictions between traffic supply and demand are becoming increasingly acute. Therefore, the renewal and reconstruction of the road system is a corollary to remit the traffic situation. The road system update and reformation are put forward by the analysis of factors, which influence the urban traffic system. Under the investment amount, one-dimensional resource for reforming the urban road system can be allocated according to the optimization model. Combining the capacity of road network gained -above with the optimization model, the road network is reformed and optimized in the instance. The result indicates that it is meaningful practically.
