With the developing of highway Communications, the traffic is increasing and axle is becoming heavier and heavier. All of these demand the high quality of asphalt pavements. The experience of past ten years hi highway construction shows that the practical life time of asphalt pavement is far more shorter than anticipated (15-20 years). Damages, such as cracking rutting and less of friction resistance are offer occurred in first two years. They caused direct and indirect economy losses and bad social influences. In addition to control overloaded vehicles by means of administration, the hot stability and low temperature brittleness of asphalt mixture should be improved to solve all these problems.By far, there are two methods to improve the quality of asphalt pavement. The first one is to form a structure of coarse aggregate to resist rutting and the second is to enhance the binding energy of asphalt to produce high hot stability and increase the asphalt quantity or optimize binder to improve it' s low tempreture brittleness. For example, the use of SMA SAC and SBS, SBR PE optimized asphalt decrease the occur of pavement damage effectively.This project is to study how to improve the qualities of asphalt pavement by using fiber. The reason and test of the use of fiber is analyzed in this essay and even some ways of design are propsed, and it was proved to be effective by tracing test to the test road.
