In this paper, we studied the effect of sterilization on different bacteria and cyanobacteria in variant water sample of micro-electrolysis and high voltage electrostatic field (HVEF), and the effect of physiological activity on E.coli and the characteristic optical absorption peak of phycocyanin of micro-electrolysis. The mechanism of sterilization and algae killing was approached.Micro-electrolysis had effect on E.coli, Ferro-bacteria, nitrate-reducing bacteria, sulfate-reducing bacteria and Spirulina platensis. The effect of sterilization increased by increases of the current density, treatment time and conductivity of water, and by decrease of the concentration of bacteria. The results demonstrated that active oxygen produced of micro-electrolysis played an important role for killing bacteria; the contents of active oxygen in water were increased while increasing the current density and treatment time. However, with the increasing treating time, the relative contents of reactive oxygen species (ROS) of E.coli increased, but the contents of soluble protein decreased. In shorter time, micro-electrolysis could induce rises of the contents of malondialdehyde (MDA) and the activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase (CAT), with the increasing time, the contents and the activities declined. The effect on the absorption of crude phycobiliprotein of micro-electrolysis was studied. The result indicated that increases of the current density and treatment time decreased the characteristic optical absorption peak of phycocyanin at 620nm obviously. However it had no obvious effect on characteristic optical absorption peak of phycocyanin at 620nm of active water. That strongly suggested that?4 ?micro-electronic current improve dissociation of phycobiliprotein. The sterilized efficiency of HVEF on E.coli in different composition water was studied. It showed that the effect of sterilization of HVEF was not stable compared with micro-electrolysis.
