| At present, the double salient motor has received more and more research efforts. Especially, the double salient permanent magnet motor (DSPM) was introduced by A.lipo, the famouse motor control expert, in 1992. Recently, a new motor named Double Salient Electro-magnentic Motor was invented by NUAA. It replaces permanent magnet by field winding, which allows it to take advantage of low cost, complexity of control. But on the other hand, its basic principals are different from DSPM.It is the purpose of this paper to reveal the basic operation principals. At first, its statistic character and lining module are introduced, based on which the basic operation principals will be illustrated integrated with the three phase half-bridge converter. Secondly, because of changeable inductor, it is difficult to analysis the action of system. So the equeivelent inductor will be illustrated and the simplified module will be constructed. Thirdly, current ripple will be calculated in two current control mode respectively and paper will make a conclusion about its interaction with the voltage, current, frequence and so on . Finally this paper will show the design of the controller and test waveforms.
